After the January 2016 election I was deeply disturbed. Like many men and women, I thought we would elect our first female president. Instead, we elected a man who has waged war on women's rights and integrity. So I begin this series, painting the women in my life. First friends living in San Antonio, then family as I visited them throughout the year during my vacation. Now, I welcome a portrait session with whomever would like to join the march.
I am interested in harnessing the power of diverse women to create transformative social change. This women's led movement has provided me with intersectional education on a diverse range of issues regarding systems of oppression.
The budding flowers these women hold signify growth, resilience, and stamina for a collective bloom.
